Thistlebee's Hats, Basic Style Page One.

ALL HAT STYLES ARE AVAILABLE FOR ORDERING! If you see a hat similar to what you would like, but not spot on...simply let us know. We are always open to your ideas and are more than willing to work with you AND your imagination!

All items are handmade here in our small cottage in Pennsylvania. Machine sewn and embroidered, handworked when needed.

We use Madiera PolyNeon thread for the embroidery. Amazing stuff... a handful of loose threads placed in a cup of Chlorine bleach was left for the morning and it DID NOT fade!

Please us with any inquiries and include "Thistlebees" in your subject line to help us with spam spotting!

Interesting Information
"Bed" Bonnets were/are worn to keep body heat from escaping during sleep. The examples shown are in muslin.

"Soft Bonnets" I've used many types of fabrics with this style. Muslins, Velvets and even Suede!

Elizabethan - Tudor Style Coif I began making these as a fitted hat, but, after many requests, changed the design to something adjustable. Both are available. With or without an oblong shaped "Bongrace".

The Tudor period usually refers to the period between 1485 and 1603, specifically in relation to the history of England. This includes the period in which Henry VII ruled (1457 - 1509), and also includes the Elizabethan era, which is the period associated with Queen Elizabeth I's reign (1558 - 1603), considered to be the "Golden Age" in English history. During this period, as today, styles of coifs varied.
